Artist's Description

354th Fighter Group P-51B Mustangs fly low over occupied France. Known as the Pioneer Mustang Group the 354th was the first to fly the new Merlin powered P-51B Mustang in combat. Initially employed in the ground attack roll it was soon realized that the new Mustangs outstanding range and performance would make an excellent escort fighter. The new type and its subsequent upgraded models would prove a game changer in the strategic bombing campaign against Germany and the eventual destruction of the Luftwaffe.

About Mark Donoghue

Mark Donoghue

Founded in 2014, Hangar 7 Art produces historically accurate military aviation prints, apparel, fabrics, commissioned works and other merchandise by Australian born artist Mark Donoghue. “After being a long time collector and researcher of WWII aviation. And starting with nothing more than a passion for my subject, imagination, and few basic computer skills. I began producing aviation artworks. What has evolved is a fusion of photography and various digital art techniques, to bring to life my minds eye view of 20th century military aviation and aerial combat. I find there is a beauty and majesty on the canvas in which these pioneer aviators endured, and inflicted so much horror.” - Mark Donoghue
