475th Fighter Group pilot Major Thomas McGuire engages an A6M "Zero" over Biak, Dutch New Guinea. McGuire would become America's second highest scoring ace with 38 kills. However he was killed on the 7th January 1945 when his P-38 Lightning stalled attempting to engage an "Oscar" at low altitude near Manapala, in the central Philippines. His aircraft then snap rolled inverted into the ground, killing him on impact. McGuire was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.
Founded in 2014, Hangar 7 Art produces historically accurate military aviation prints, apparel, fabrics, commissioned works and other merchandise by Australian born artist Mark Donoghue. “After being a long time collector and researcher of WWII aviation. And starting with nothing more than a passion for my subject, imagination, and few basic computer skills. I began producing aviation artworks. What has evolved is a fusion of photography and various digital art techniques, to bring to life my minds eye view of 20th century military aviation and aerial combat. I find there is a beauty and majesty on the canvas in which these pioneer aviators endured, and inflicted so much horror.” - Mark Donoghue
