Artist's Description

RNZAF Battle of Britain ace John Noble Mackenzie downs a Bf109E near Maidstone, 5th October 1940. Mackenzie would be credited with six axis aircraft destroyed, four probables and two damaged during the battle. All while flying with 41 Squadron. He was awarded a DFC in November of 1940. He was later transferred to 488 (NZ) Squadron flying Brewster Buffaloes in the defense of Singapore. Although being involved in several engagements with Japanese aircraft he was not able to make any claims. These would be his last combats of the war and he would rise to the rank of squadron leader when he retired from the air force in 1957.

And starting with nothing more than a passion for my subject, imagination, and few basic computer skills. I began producing aviation artworks. What has evolved is a fusion of photography and various digital art techniques, to bring to life my minds eye view of 20th century military aviation and aerial combat.
