This picture arrived... Looks great in the office. Can you tell me, where is this (I appreciate the Spitfire and V-1 are CGI, but where is the background)?

Artist's Description

A depiction of the first physical tipping of a V-1 flying bomb by Ken “Junior” Collier, RAAF, 91 Squadron RAF, in his Spitfire MkXIV on 23rd June 1944.
While another had used their wing to disrupt the airflow over the V-1's wing and send it out of control and away from London, Ken was the first actually make contact. Not knowing if it would explode, he knocked it nearly 90 degrees from the horizontal and sent it spiraling to the ground. While a rare method of disabling the V-1, it was effective, and is a shining example of the determination and courage of the young pilots who attempted to save civilian lives in London and elsewhere during WWII. Ken would become a V-1 ace with 7 kills, however he was later killed in action in an aerial engagement over the Ruhr later in the year.

About Mark Donoghue

Mark Donoghue

Founded in 2014, Hangar 7 Art produces historically accurate military aviation prints, apparel, fabrics, commissioned works and other merchandise by Australian born artist Mark Donoghue. “After being a long time collector and researcher of WWII aviation. And starting with nothing more than a passion for my subject, imagination, and few basic computer skills. I began producing aviation artworks. What has evolved is a fusion of photography and various digital art techniques, to bring to life my minds eye view of 20th century military aviation and aerial combat. I find there is a beauty and majesty on the canvas in which these pioneer aviators endured, and inflicted so much horror.” - Mark Donoghue
