The 479th Bomb Groups B-29 Superfortress “Thumper” comes under attack from 244 Sentai Kawasaki Ki-61’s over southern Japan. “Thumper” was the first B-29 to return to the USA having completed 40 missions, and subsequently went on war bond selling tour around the country.
